Travel tips from Dock Holidays to plan a family vacation in Mexico

Playa del Carmen In the tropical resort of Playa del Carmen a more relaxed atmosphere, than in Cancun.

Question: We are planning a family vacation on the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico. We are not sure, where we stay, Playa del Carmen or Cancun? Maybe there are other places, which are better suited for families? Do you have any ideas for family activities in this area or any useful information?

Doc Holiday Travel: Both resorts are ideal for family holidays. These coastal regions of Mexico fit into the concept of resorts with full all inclusive (All Inclusive): Restaurants, shops and activity.

Cancun – it's basically a strip of land long 25 km, which are occupied by hotels on the shoreline. White sand, there are a lot of water sports and activities, as well as a lot of people.

Be careful with booking during any American holidays, you'll see, that all the evening and nightlife establishments are crowded with people of age 20-29 Years.

Playa del Carmen is about an hour's drive from the airport in Cancun and at the same time the atmosphere at this resort is much more relaxed, than in Cancun.

  

  

Playa also has a lot of fantastic restaurants and bars, just walk along the main shopping street, 5-th Avenue, to see a lot of interesting things, and experience any of the huge selection of entertainment offered.

Generally, Playa translates as «beach», and the beach here is gorgeous white sand and clear blue water.

There are many areas for snorkeling and many fishing boats are offered, who are ready to take you on board for the day.

One of the Pachamama stores on 5th Avenue is definitely worth a visit. Translated as "Mother Earth", Here you will find amazing Mexican treasures. Most of them are one-of-a-kind, pieces by local artists.

Naturally, you should try tequila. Almost every bar offers its own version, But there's one place, where you can try the highest quality varieties - «Каза Текила» (Casa Tequila), also on 5th Avenue. There you will even be offered to take a photo of you and the next minute it will become a label on your own bottle, which you can take home with you.

There are several other attractions in the region, which is well worth a visit:
•  (Xcaret) – Eco-archaeological park. This is the largest open eco-park in the style of Disneyland on the Yucatan, full of animals and real living Mayan Indians in traditional robes;
Mayan ruins in any of these places – Chichen Itza or Tulum;
Cenotes; (Cenotes) – natural pools of clean water in which you can swim,
And of course snorkeling on the world's second largest coral reef.
